Change to Rogers Roam like Home

$

Here some details "Today’s change also caps fees at 15 days, up from 10 days per billing cycle. This means users can expect to pay more for international roaming on a billing cycle, now up to $180 instead of the previous $100 max. In comparison, Bell’s International add-on caps at 20 days, and Telus has a max of 15 days. The maximum cap days also apply to the U.S. Roam Like Home option, which means users can expect to be charged up to $90 per billing cycle, instead of $60." Rogers throttling RTMP to Twitch, dont use if you want to stream

There's a major problem with CODA 4852 modems throttling upstream RTMP to twitch. It's essentially unusable if you plan on streaming, the only remedy is using a VPN which just adds to the costs. I'd suggest finding other services to stream on.

[Internet] IPv6 config with TP-Link router

Hello I'm using a TP-Link router AC2300, with the CODA in bridge mode. IPv6 works great on the CODA, but now that I've bridged it, I need to configure IPv6 on the TP-Link router. I've uploaded the config tab for IPv6 because no matter what I try - IPv6 just wont work. What am I supposed to do here? Last time I did IPv6 config was with TSI DSL Thanks

Anyone else notice that downloading Apps from the Playstore on Android takes forever on Android (sometimes as slow as 100kb/sec)? I've tried multiple phones and my other house which also has Rogers; still slow. Anyone else have this issue? I'm on the 1000 down 30 up plan.

Rogers Bottom Basement Internet Only Offers

Looks like Rogers is pulling out all stops to keep Bell and TPIAs at bay for their Internet service. I just got switched over to their $30/month Ignite 500 service, yes that is $30/month. This is on two year price guarantee. I know this is a strategy to price out the competition, but this is an ideal price point for unlimited Internet. There is even an offer for $40/month Ignite Gigabit service. So how can they keep sustaining these prices? And will we see decent unlimited internet at this price point going forward. 50/50 at $30/month would be a great starting point for internet.

[Internet] Gigabit Plan Speed is all Over the Place When Downloading Games

I've noticed when downloading large files, my speed is all over the place. Sometimes I download at 60-90mb/sec and then it just drops to 10mb/sec then cuts out then comes back. Is this normal for cable internet? I'm on a cat 6 wired connection straight to the router Here is a picture of one of my downloads: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/gpo3aekqcezt7ja/Steam_2018-02-18_14-12-14.png

[Internet] WoodyNet Peering

I know that this isn't probably the best place to talk about such network related questions, though I don't know who to bring this up with. Hopefully someone here (possibly from Rogers) can route this message to the right people. I have noticed that Rogers is not peering with WoodyNet AS42 (PCH). Both are present at the TorIX (Toronto Internet Exchange), and WoodyNet has an open peering policy. https://www.pch.net/about/peering WoodyNet is responsible for running the largest anycasted DNS network, including some root servers. They are constantly looking to peer with other network providers to minimize latency and optimize routing for DNS related activity. More recently, PCH plus a few others launched Quad9 (https://www.quad9.net/faq/), a DNS service that provides additional security for internet connected devices. The anycasted service is hosted on the WoodyNet network, but due to the lack of peering, the connection from Rogers will terminate in Ashburn, VA. 5 9039-cgw01.wlfdle.rmgt.net.rogers.com (209.148.227.137) 20.379 ms 18.749 ms 14.469 ms 6 64.71.241.110 (64.71.241.110) 30.272 ms 39.730 ms 24.743 ms 7 be812.ccr41.iad02.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.11.217) 41.413 ms 39.133 ms 35.812 ms 8 ae-58.r06.asbnva02.us.bb.gin.ntt.net (129.250.8.121) 42.858 ms 39.068 ms 39.979 ms 9 ae-1.a03.asbnva02.us.bb.gin.ntt.net (129.250.5.214) 34.631 ms 39.487 ms 39.234 ms10 xe-0-0-28-2.a03.asbnva02.us.ce.gin.ntt.net (168.143.105.70) 21.472 ms 34.817 ms 34.120 ms11 dns.quad9.net (9.9.9.9) 43.631 ms 50.128 ms 34.540 ms Although latency is still very much acceptable, the connection has to travel over more hops and over two tier-one carriers to terminate in Virgina, even though a local instance is available in Toronto. My question is this: considering that WoodyNet has an open peering policy, and the fact that they host multiple DNS related services (including root servers, authoritative and recursive resolvers), would Rogers be able to connect with WoodyNet?

[Modem/Router] Just set up but speeds seem low

Hi. Just set up my 500ignite plan. Switched the combo unit to bridge mode and connected to my Asus ac-rt68u. Hardwired to to my router I’m getting about 250ish. Wifi 5ghz around the same. I would of thought hardwired to the router isn’t get close to the 500. If I hardwired direct to the Rogers combo unit I get about 440, and via wifi about 280-90. Any ideas what I can do to improve? Or is that my router not capable of taking those speeds even hardwired?

I just moved over from another company back to Rogers thanks to a $79.99 bundle deal and am wondering if it's my line or some other issue that's affecting my upload speeds. Download speeds are routinely around 500-550 Mpbs but uploads barely top 9 Mpbs. Any suggestions on where I should look to try and troublehsoot this, or if anyone can help me decipher the DOCSIS WAN stats page?

only getting 400mb max on ignite gigabit, should i downgrade?

so I've had ignite gig for a couple weeks or so now and this whole time i actually thought i had the 500 u package ( i could swear that was what i ordered) and was totally willing to forgive the fact that i almost never get 500 mb/u , but today i got a letter for a promotion on 500u that's half of what I'm paying right now. so i called in and was informed that i actually was supposed to be getting gig this whole time! transferred to tech support, they told me it looks fine on their end and to connect the modem to another device to test (i don't have one and this is a brand new high-end custom built pc, so i shouldn't have any problems.) I'm wondering, if this problem can't be fixed if i should downgrade to the 500u promotion? or will i only get half of that again if i downgrade? even so, it's not like i need that much download speed. it honestly hasn't made a noticeable difference to my regular habits, besides torrenting and downloading games, a little bit... anyone have any insight?

Reset or reboot

I have the 4582 and a network of the desktop and a Samsung TV. Smart View is the Samsung app for streaming from the pc to the tv and playing files on the TV which are in a shared folder on the pc. Problem is that the app will lose recognition of the tv after some period on non use, say several hours. Only a modem reboot --pulling the plug-- allows the app to find the tv again. Since I am condemned to reboot hell I'm looking for an easier way than pulling the power out. What about the reset button on the front ? Is that the same as a reboot ?

How to setup a VPN after using Rogers 500M plan with CODA-4582?

I just recently switched to Rogers 500M plan and uses its modem CODA-4582. The built-in router seems faster than my old Asus N66U router which only reaches maybe 100M so I am now using CODA-4582 as router too. My question is how to use CODA-4582 to setup a VPN directly and if it is not possible what is option I could have other than putting CODA-4582 back to a bridging mode and reuse my slow Asus n66u? Thanks.

Has anyone ever gotten this message? I need some ideas of what it could be, since they will apparently suspend my service if it is not fixed. . I called them about this and they could not provide any more information. I have firewall/anti-virus enabled on most devices connected to Rogers router. Also have UPNP disabled. Dear Valued Customer Important security message about your Rogers Internet service Hi! We've found an issue with your Rogers internet connection, or your wireless home network, which requires your attention. Below are details - in both technical and simpler terms - intended to help you resolve it. In technical terms: A device connected to your Rogers Internet connection is showing signs of an exploitable SSDP vulnerability. In simple terms: The SSDP vulnerability is a publicly accessible device that has SSDP running and responding to queries. This SSDP vulnerability can be exploited by a third party to be used to attack other devices anonymously, in what is called a distributed denial of service attack. This impacts you in the following ways: • Use your machine to participate in a distributed denial of service attack. • Your access to the internet could be degraded and disrupted. Not to worry, here's what you can do: The subscriber devices connected to networks are not accessible to our diagnostics tools, meaning our agents will not be able to resolve this issue. Below are some best practices to avoid future incidents: 1. Use and maintain anti-virus software. Anti-virus software recognizes and protect your devices against known viruses. It is important to keep your anti-virus software up to date. 2. Change your passwords. Your original password may have been compromised. 3. Keep your operating system and application software up to date. Install software patches to prevent attackers from exploiting known vulnerabilities. 4. Use anti-malware tools. Use a program that detects and removes malware. 5. Don’t download attachments or click links from email addresses you don’t recognize. This is one of the most common vectors for all forms of malware. 6. Use a firewall. 7. Don’t visit website that are known distributors of malware. 8. Remove or disable services or protocols that are not needed. 9. Keep browsers and their plug-ins up to date. Under the Rogers Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, you are responsible for the security of any device you connect to the service. You are also responsible for any misuse of the service, by you or by any other person with access to the service through your equipment or account. As a result, you must take steps to correct this issue and ensure others do not gain unauthorized access to your service through any means. If you fail to correct this issue, your service may be suspended and/or terminated in accordance with our Rogers Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. If you have the Rogers Smart Home Monitoring service, any features requiring a broadband connection, such as remote control of your lights via the mobile app, will be affected. Please review the Acceptable Use Policy specific to this issue: http://www.rogers.com/cms/pdf/en/Rogers-Terms-of-Service-Acceptable-Use-Policy-and-Privacy-Policy-en.pdf Suggested steps to assist you in resolving your security issue: Step 1: Disable Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) functionality or deploy firewall rules to allowed only trusted hosts on inbound port 1900/udp. Slow internet after changing modem twice, was fine before change

I swapped out my CODA modem last week because the wifi signal was getting spotty. The wired connection worked fine. When I swapped it out, it didn't work at all (it would get stuck on the upload light flashing green). I then remembered that a tech last year put a filter on my cable to help with instability I was having (even though the instability turned out to be a Rogers back end issue, like I predicted). Anyway, I took off the filter, and my internet connection worked, but it was extremely inconsistent. My download speeds spiked between 5 - 950 Mbps down, and upload went from 5 - 40 Mbps. I then called Rogers and they sent a tech over. He just swapped out my modem again. I asked him if he should put on a new filter, he said it wouldn't do anything. After using the internet for 48 hours now, it's still bad (although not as bad as the first modem swap). Download speeds fluctuate between 200 - 950 Mbps now, while upload speeds are very low, typically between 5 - 7 Mbps and never higher than 20. My ping has also doubled in online games. I used to get 20-30 ping in Overwatch and Rainbow Six Seige when connecting to east coast servers. I now get 50 - 60 (it hasn't dropped below 50 once), with occasional spikes into the hundreds (which I never had before). My ping had never gone above 30 in those two games before. All of this testing is being done on my gaming computer using a wired connection directly to the modem (I don't have a router). I live in North York. I'm positive it's not a local issue as the problems only started after swapping out the modem for the first time (and swapping out a second time didn't fix anything). Prior to the modem swapping, I was getting a constant 800 - 950 Mbps down and 20 - 40 Mbps up (it was exceedingly rare to drop lower than either range). Anyone have any idea what's going on? The filter was on very tight, so I'm thinking it might have maybe damaged the cable pin when I took it off? Should I try replacing the coaxial cable? Could it be that I do in fact need a filter on my connection, despite what the tech said? This is really pissing me off, and I'd switch to Bell if they offered service in my area (but since it's a townhouse complex, they aren't interested in bringing in fbire). Thanks

Previously I was on a 75/10 connection with Ebox and I never had the Youtube buffering issues that I'm seeing now with Rogers. Is there a simple fix for this? One would expect this kind of connection to not have buffering issues yes?
