My internet went down earlier because of the storm I think? When I restarted the modem my download speed doubled O_O Paying for 150/15 [att=2] Did like 10 test and all came out 300+ Mbps. Just trying to spread out the word to GTA residents. :)

[Internet] Rogers Cradlepoint AER1600 LTE Router (Netcloud OS)

Hi everyone. I have a client that just implemented the Cradlepoint AER1600 LTE failover hub/router at their site, and with how the configuration is set up, the device is now configured in a DMZ setting that passes internet traffic through to the end users router. The client also has a CUDA modem which is in Bridge mode, which is then connected to the Cradlepoint AER1600 and then to the clients Router, in order. The issue is we are running a DynDNS service on our router, but the IP that is updated is selectively updating using the external interface's IP (which is the reserved DMZ private IP of 172.30.0.3) so effectively the DynDNS service can no longer run correctly on the Router side. I spoke with tech support and there is apparently no way for the end user to access the administrative configuration page for the Cradlepoint AER1600. The default user of "admin" and the password on the sticker on the bottom of the device does not work, as Rogers has most likely changed it in the firmware. Does anyone know perhaps a default user/pass combination for this device or is it account specific? I have confirmed that the DynDNS services do exist on the Cradlepoint AER1600, however the technician indicated that they would have to configure it for the end-user, which means giving up the account credentials for my dyn.com account. Having a butt-ton of DynDNS hostnames on my business account, I am a little hesitant to give this type of access away over the phone to Rogers. Alternatively I thought about using a client side updater running on a PC, but the DynDNS client updater is not password protected (like the NoIP client updater), and I don't want anyone tampering around on my other host names and modifying anything (potentially knocking out services to other clients of mine). I could set up a NoIP account (free account) and ensure the hostname is validated every 30 days, then use the NoIP client updater, but realistically would want to keep all my client host names under one provider. Rogers indicated that the second phase of development for the Cradlepoint AER1600 firmware may open up access to end user modification, but that may take up to 6 months to push out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is getting a RG6 drop to an address really that groundbreaking?

Hi everyone, I have a cottage. I have been trying to get Rogers to run an RG6 drop from my very nearby tap to my address (my cottage is less than 100 meters away from a tap that only has one RG6 cable currently plugged into it) and it has not been going well so far. I mentioned this to Rogers Network Architect Dave a long time ago, and it has turned into a 14 month ordeal trying to get Rogers to literally do one RG6 drop to my cottage. It feels like the only person who actually made any progress was Dave but of course he has left Rogers in the time it has taken for me to try and get an RG6 drop to my cottage... I talk to their support on social media messages fairly regularly (I'm at over 20,000 words in my Word document thus far) and I have got them to admit that I am close enough to the tap (my neighbor south of me isn't) but they say I need a "plant extension" to make this happen which would cost well over $14,000 since "Tapping in with a temp RG6 cable would reduce the quality of service to you and the other customers already using that existing tap which is why the extension would be required". Never mind the fact that one of my neighbors across the street already has Rogers services (https://i.imgur.com/qcmZwIL.png) from that exact tap and one extra RG6 drop would make zero difference. They said I would have to pay a $14,000+ lump sum (which is insane) and that a payment plan is not a possibility, and last I "heard" they are "checking" to see if they will comp the cost and just install it so I can stop wasting their supports' time (as I have said, this has been a 14 months process so far, we're actually almost at the 15 month mark now). They said that this is the first time they have ever got a request for anything like this - but I don't think it's that rare to run an RG6 drop to a house that hasn't had Rogers services before, is it? I spoke to the Director of Public Works at my City Hall and he said that one of his neighbors a few streets over from mine actually got Rogers to install services there but it took them 2 years to get Rogers to do it - I'm getting closer to the 2 year mark myself. He said there's not much he can help with but he will approve any permits they require and anything like that. Is there any way I can escalate this or anything I can do about this? I have tried reaching out to Project Managers, Engineers, etc on the Rogers forums but the only one who has actually given me the time of day (and gave me any hope of getting this done in the first place) was Dave (he told me that this is the first request he ever got of this), and now he's gone from Rogers. Does anyone have any advice for navigating the tricky waters that are Rogers? I'm getting a little bit fed up with this, It's almost to the point where I want to go to the media about how insane this is just to get Rogers to actually do something. Am I just out of luck even though the tap is literally less than 100 meters away? Thanks.

[Internet] Rogers throttling Google Drive?

I use to be on Bell Fibe 300 and was able to download at full speed on Google Drive. I recently joined Rogers 500U and I noticed the download speeds seem to be throttled. When I upload, I can hit the max of 20mbps. However, when I download, I am only doing about 6.4mbps. Does anyone else have this issue with Rogers?

Slow google drive downloads on Gigabit

I'm back on rogers with the Coda-4582 (2.0.10.28T2, wifi off, non-bridged) on 1000/30 service. Is anyone else seeing issues downloading files from google drive via rclone? When I was downloading a 29GB file, the file transfer speed ramped up to 100MB/sec in the beginning but then tanks after a minute and will sit below 2MB/sec, sometimes it will ramp up again for a short period but then it's back down to like 1.5MB/sec. It's like a roller coaster, I'm just not getting a consistent file transfer speed. Could this new modem be the cause? I didn't cancel my previous cannet 100/10 service yet and now after seeing these ridiculous transfer speeds on rogers I'm wondering if I should cancel the service and stick with cannet instead. At least I was getting a consistent 11-12MB from google drive on it. I never had this weirdness back when I had rogers on 250/20 (CGN3ACSMR). :(

I upgraded to the gigabit connection. I was getting 325Mb download speed and 20Mb upload speed before the upgrade and now i'm getting only 50Mb download and 30Mb upload. Did I do something wrong? I'm wired directly to the modem.

Experiencing mini disconnects all day, Scarborough

Can someone check out my modem stats please? For the two weeks ever since the initial install I get mini-disconnects every so often but today they're as frequent as every 15 minutes to half an hour or so. They sometimes last less than a minute, but a few times they have lasted many minutes. Reboots sometimes fixed it, but that might just be coincidence. Early on after my initial installation a couple of weeks ago, my signal levels were a bit lower with higher signal to noise ratio, but now it seems my signal levels are higher (albeit all still under 10 dB downstream), with my SNR significantly worse. It seems I've gained about 3-4 dB across the board for whatever reason, with a concomitant decrease in my SNR. My modem’s log indicates a lot of “Lost MDD Timeout” errors. My house is connected to the utility pole via RG11 due to insufficient signal in previous years (for Digital TV), but my TV was fine after that. I'd been on Bell TV for the last couple of years though, so I don't know how Rogers' lines have behaved in the interim. The signal is split at the box (by Rogers - I didn't touch it), with one line going to my basement and one line to my converted garage/home theatre. TV in the garage/home theatre has been fine, although I haven't tried it today. That one line to my basement is further split so one line goes to the Hitron CODA-4582U modem and the other line feeds the TV in the rest of the house. BTW, I’m on Gigabit but I don’t really care about Gigabit. I’d much rather have a stable 300 than a flaky 1000.

Bell vs Rogers Network Performance

I live in Markham L3P postal code. In 2003, I received a trial of Bell Internet while I was on Rogers. I conducted the following performance tests (see attached) and switched to Bell. My question is after 15 years, are these still accurate profiles with changes to the networks? Wondering if it's more cost effective to consolidate TV and Internet together on Rogers. Thanks

[Internet] Weird behavior on CODA-4582U 36T6: VPN & Apple Airport Extreme

$

I was on the 33T3 firmware before with my CODA-4582U (Ignite Gigabit internet) and I was having some stability issues. Signal levels were fluctuating so I'm not sure if it was the signal levels or the firmware, but nonetheless Rogers upgraded the firmware to 36T6. The modem has been stable lately but a few times now I've noticed my three hardwired Apple Airport Extremes (which were all in WiFi bridge mode - no routing) would lose the connection, with no internet access. Sometimes just one would go down, but sometimes I'd come home and all three of them would go down. This never happened on 33T3, just on 36T6. I have two 802.11ac Extremes, and one older 802.11n Extreme. The weird part is that I could still access the internet through those same Airports via a wired connection. Just WiFi wouldn't work. So clearly the Rogers modem was still connected and the hardwired Ethernet network was fine, but somehow only the WiFi bridging function of the Airports was lost. What I've noticed is I don't have to do anything with the Airports. If I reboot just the Airports, nothing is fixed. They still have no internet access through WiFi. However, if I reboot the Rogers Hitron CODA-4582U, all the Airports will come back full functioning on their own. So, I think there is some sort of odd incompatibility with the now discontinued Apple Airport Extremes (in bridge mode) and the CODA-4582U, possibly specific to the 36T6 firmware. --- The other thing is when I switched from Bell FTTH to Rogers, I started noticing some lag in my VPN access. This was true VPNing to two different workplaces, one using Pulse Secure and MS Remote Desktop Connection, and the other using the Citrix application. And sometimes I'd lose the connection completely, although usually it was just the annoying lag. This was true on both 33T3 and 36T6. Because of the weirdness of the Airports losing WiFi internet access on 36T6, I put the Rogers Hitron modem into bridge mode, and now have have one the Airports doing the routing. So far the Airports have been stable, but I haven't had enough time to judge that, since it's only been one day. But the big side benefit is that the VPN lag is gone. VPN is back to way it was before, so it would appear that the Hitron has some issues with VPN with my particular VPN software (two different sets of software) and/or my software settings, when the modem is in gateway/router mode.

Ignite down again

Ottawa area. I can't even connect to their community forum site. I went with ignite a few weeks ago because with cable I was constantly getting channel not available, try later messages. The tech guy sold me on ignite because being wireless it would solve the Rogers cable capacity problem. HAH!

[Internet] Check your download speed

So I have a choice to make and not sure. My discount at rogers is coming to and end in march. I've been offered Ignite TV and to keep the 500U package. However Bell Fiber is now available at my building. Ignite TV service is like $180 a month which comes with a home phone service I will never use. Also a $50 fee for install. So i'm really looking at the bell 500/500 package right now which I can get on discount for like $54 a month for 12 months. Bell has said no fee for install. What I would like to do is keep Rogers digital tv service but go bell for internet. I don't want fibe tv as rogers digital services offers superior image quality. a friend of mine also suggested keeping bell for internet and totally get rid of the cable and just go android box which would be the cheapest solution. What do you guy/gal think?

[Internet] Rogers is ripping me off, and worse. Rubbing my nose in it

I live in Barrie near Georgian College and for the past 6 months or more, Rogers has been over charging and under providing a service. I signed up for the Ignite Gigabit service about 2 years ago. It started off fast, but the service has got slower and slower. After noticing a lot of pauses in certain programs I ran a speed test, only to discover that my 1 g service was now at a miserly 150mbs a sec. Almost a 1/10th of the advertised speed. I called and Rogers sent Intek to diagnose the problem. They removed and re-grounded the line and I went and swapped the Hitron modem out for another, only to find the EXACT same results. It's noise on the line according to Intek. Lots of it. The tap needs someone to fix it. The main is scheduled to be replaced, but I was told they don't have permits yet and they're getting to it. I called and was shuffled around, only to be told that in distilled language. It sucks but you're getting a promotional deal. So, it is what it is. But. It isn't. If you bought a new 8 cylinder truck and drove it home only to find that only 2 cylinders were firing. Would you accept that? So. Here's my options. I ask again that Rogers get off their butts, and fix this. If not, I think my next option will be to call a lawyer and sue for false advertising. Rogers. You disappoint yet again.

[Internet] Rogers Latency > Teksavvy

I just switched from Teksavvy cable to Rogers. I'm seeing what appears to be increased latency everywhere, but especially with google DNS. I'm seeing about an 10ms increase to most things im monitoring. Anyone else see similar issues? I'm in Kitchener-Waterloo region. Graphs attached, modem in bridged mode, already tried rebooting modem. Results are surprising to me. The break in graphs at 8:30am is the switch from Teksavvy to Rogers. Same line, router, gear, etc... new modem. [att=1] [att=2] [att=3] [att=4]

Using mesh router on Rogers Ignite 300

I'm going to be helping out a friend upgrade their wifi system at their home & detached office (converted garage). They have rogers ignite 300 and are currently using airport extremes for their additional access points (in the office we don't even get 1mbps despite ethernet is over 300). I'd like to install these netgear orbi access points and connect them all via ethernet https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/netgear-orbi-ac2200-whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-system-rbk23-100cns/12381157.aspx? I'm familiar with wifi set up and everything but want to hear if there is any additional issues with this product and the Rogers Advanced Wifi Modem/routers. will i be able to place the modem in bridge mode? I'm a bell subscriber so haven't dug around the rogers settings before. Thanks in advance.

Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1

Hi, I use the Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 app on the iPhone for some time now, and it was working fine until recently. Now, I can't connect while using Rogers mobile network. While it's still working over WiFi. I get a Paused status "Your Network does not support 1.1.1.1". Note that I tried to run it both over HTTPS and TLS, to no avail. The fact that it was working earlier, and that it's still working fine over WiFi, makes me wondering whether Rogers is purposely blocking Cloudflare DNS now, or by "Accident", like AT&T did last year. Any idea?

I have been having issues with Nextbox 3.0 (Model 9865) and it showing poster art for PVR recordings. I currently have 16 shows/movies recorded and only 4 show poster art. Rebooting used to fix it, but it does not now. Does anyone know a better solution?

[Modem/Router] Bridging Rogers Ignite TV modem? Need home phone / TV / internet

$

Hi there. i currently have Rogers Digital TV (Premier) + Gigabit internet + Home Phone for cheap on a promotion. I'm not champing at the bit just yet to upgrade to a Rogers Ignite TV bundle, as I hear that there are many glitches right now with Rogers Ignite TV. Nonetheless, my interest is piqued a bit since I see that some promotions for Ignite TV are finally making an appearance. However, I have my setup all dialed in right now. I am bridging my Hitron CODA-4582 to an Apple AirPort based network, and everything is running uber stable. My AirPort router never goes down, and my AirPorts I use as WiFi bridges also never go down. My PVRs are on Digital TV and so all are independent of the modem, and never go down either. So is my home phone (which I use for my fax and my home alarm system), since it is through a completely separate home phone modem. The only issue I have with home phone is occasional faxes don't go through, but that could be due to line noise on the other end. If I were to eventually go with Ignite TV, I read that bridging the modem will disconnect all WiFi-connected TV boxes, but wired TV boxes should be OK even if the modem is bridged. Is that correct? For wired TV boxes to the bridged modem, does it have to be on a separate physical network? Or can it be on the existing physical network though a regular consumer router? I don't want to have to set up VLANs or whatever. Also, what about home phone? Will home phone still work properly if the modem is bridged?
