MyRogers app updated, now not seeming to work

I was using the MyRogers app to look at my account just a few minutes ago ... on my iPad running iOS 12.2. All was working fine. In the meantime the latest update of the MyRogers app was downloading in the background. Now that I’m using the updated app, all I am getting is a We’re doing some maintenance... check back later message. Just coincidence? Or is there some problem with the update?

[Internet] Rogers upload speeds - When will they increase and by how much?

I’ve read rumours that updates to the tech implementation soon will allow Rogers to increase their internet upload speeds. I am told that theoretically it could go up to 100 Mbps or more. However, is that realistic in the real world in the near term? Would it apply to existing subscribers? When are they planning on implementing this?

[Internet] Coda modem shortage?

Is there a shortage right now for Coda modems? Last year, I could get a Coda modem with a 100u package or higher. This year, even with a 150u package, stores are denying a swap to a Coda modem.

Unable to connect to my CODA-4582

This is the weirdest thing, and I'm running out of ideas. I need your help. I have a CODA-4582 modem from Rogers, and recently I noticed that I cannot connect to it from my internal network anymore. I use the 192.168.100.1 IP address. It worked fine before. As far as I know, nothing changed in my network configuration. The weirdest thing is that if I ping it from my router (connected directly to CODA - I actually have my CODA in bridge mode), the modem will respond to one ping every 60 seconds. Here is how the output looks like: X$ ping 192.168.100.1PING 192.168.100.1 (192.168.100.1) 56(84) bytes of data.64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=42 ttl=64 time=1.73 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=102 ttl=64 time=1.01 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=161 ttl=64 time=1.76 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=162 ttl=64 time=1.62 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=221 ttl=64 time=1.31 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=280 ttl=64 time=1.81 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=340 ttl=64 time=1.44 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=400 ttl=64 time=0.829 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=459 ttl=64 time=1.21 ms64 bytes from 192.168.100.1: icmp_seq=519 ttl=64 time=0.845 ms--- 192.168.100.1 ping statistics ---564 packets transmitted, 10 received, 98.227% packet loss, time 747msrtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.829/1.357/1.812/0.356 ms Anybody has any ideas what is going on?

[Internet] Rogers Ignite Gigabyte

I am currently on the Rogers Hybrid Fibre 150 plan for $90.99 per month and was looking at getting an Ignite Bundle for my entire house with TV & Home Phone. The most important thing I am looking for with internet is stability, low latency, and consistency for online games. I currently have a Hitron CGN3 modem in bridge mode connected to a router to cover the entire house. My questions are as follows: 1. Will the new Gigabyte ignite package be an improvement over what I have? I am always worried I will get new hardware that will be laggy or slow. 2. Will the TV using the internet slow down the network when gaming? There are currently 4 TVs that will be utilizing the ignite service. Just to clarify the best Bell service available is 100/10 in my area and TekkSavvy offers 250/30 for $89.99. Interested to hear if anyone on the Rogers Ignite Gigabyte bundle has any issues or if the connection speed is good for gaming.

[Prices] Price hike without notice?

So on my latest bill, I can see that my internet and TV services each went up for $3. I looked at my previous bills going back to Dec 2018 and I saw no notice of a price increase. I didn't receive an email or anything in the mail. Are they contractually required to give 30 days notice?

[Wireless] Fido DNS returns bogus AAAA records

$

I have cell service from Fido and some time in the last few months, the default DNS server started returning bogus AAAA records for all queries, even when no AAAA record actually exists. The returned AAAA record is always an IPv6 address in Rogers IP space (see image). This bogus record breaks some non-web connectivity applications that I use every now and then. I realize my chances of reaching anyone at Rogers who can actually fix this are slim to none. Any recommendations on what to do? Switch to a saner provider?

[Modem/Router] Upstream indicator light turned green

My Rogers' Internet service is CFS (Connected for Success) 10/1. Since the initial installation I have had Hitron CGN3 for nearly a year. For the past week the upstream indicator light turned green (checked all the wiring and rebooted several times), showing only one channel, from being blue all along with more channels (I believe 4); yet I'm not detecting issues with upload speed, testing it with speed test, the upload speed is on par. Your insight is appreciated.

[Internet] Rogers torrent cap

Greetings, after two days of leeching the torrents the speed has dropped dramatically, going in spikes and not reaching over 1.2 MBps in total. While SCP download goes at 10.6 Mbyte/sec, the torrent traffic remains capped. Any mentioning of throttling to tech support is triggering a denial script, even a call drop :) Rebooted modem and PC a few times, tried switching to TCP, none fixed the issue. It was going fine at near full blast for a few days, running on 150 Mbps rogers "unlimited" package Any advise from fellow forum members please, switch to Bell or Tek Savvy maybe  ?

[TV] Does Rogers allow self-installs for 4K Cable TV?

I had Rogers Digital Cable 4K TV some time ago and I remember that when I signed up in store, they said that self-installs aren't allowed for whatever reasons. Does Rogers allow self-installs now or is that still not allowed. I currently have Teksavvy Cable internet and the test channel so the line is hot/active

[Internet] Gigabit internet, every speed test showing different results

Hey everyone, We recently switched over to the Rogers gigabit service and I am having a weird situation while testing speed of this Hitron modem/router. This is all performed using a Cat6 ethernet cable, Windows 10, disabled wifi on a GL552VW laptop on a Firefox browser in incognito. All servers used for the speed test are manually selected nearest to me. So: - Rogers.com/speedtest is the only one which shows a value close to what I am paying for, speed test: +900Mbps - Netflix's Fast.com speedtest shows ~300Mbps but for some weird reason, if I do the test , immediately switch to another tab, come back after 30 seconds, Fast.com shows speed results anywhere between 800Mbps-1Gbps - Using Google's speed test, Speedtest.net (by Ookla), Bell Canada's speed test, and DSLReport's speed test, they all always show results between 240-290Mbps I do not know who to believe or what speeds we are actually receiving. Only Rogers' speed test shows results in line with gigabit service but every other speed test company shows a value of 250-300Mbps Also, when I perform all the speed tests using Chrome browser in incognito (with all extensions disabled), speed test results are between 260-450Mbps, even the Rogers.com that goes up to 950 when on Firefox... Why is the speed limited while on Chrome?

[TV] Seriously? The IgniteTV web interface requires Flash?

Who does this in 2019? Who even launches something new in 2018 with Flash?! I finally got into my IgniteTV web and apps. It only took two tries on the part of Rogers customer service. I contacted them on Monday and they said 24-28 hours. This morning, it was instant. Then I see "you must enable Flash" and could not believe it. Adobe announced in 2017 that Flash was dead and would not be supported at all after the end of 2020 and yet Rogers launches a new product with it in 2018.

Is getting a RG6 drop to an address really that groundbreaking?

$

Hi everyone, I have a cottage. I have been trying to get Rogers to run an RG6 drop from my very nearby tap to my address (my cottage is less than 100 meters away from a tap that only has one RG6 cable currently plugged into it) and it has not been going well so far. I mentioned this to Rogers Network Architect Dave a long time ago, and it has turned into a 14 month ordeal trying to get Rogers to literally do one RG6 drop to my cottage. It feels like the only person who actually made any progress was Dave but of course he has left Rogers in the time it has taken for me to try and get an RG6 drop to my cottage... I talk to their support on social media messages fairly regularly (I'm at over 20,000 words in my Word document thus far) and I have got them to admit that I am close enough to the tap (my neighbor south of me isn't) but they say I need a "plant extension" to make this happen which would cost well over $14,000 since "Tapping in with a temp RG6 cable would reduce the quality of service to you and the other customers already using that existing tap which is why the extension would be required". Never mind the fact that one of my neighbors across the street already has Rogers services (https://i.imgur.com/qcmZwIL.png) from that exact tap and one extra RG6 drop would make zero difference. They said I would have to pay a $14,000+ lump sum (which is insane) and that a payment plan is not a possibility, and last I "heard" they are "checking" to see if they will comp the cost and just install it so I can stop wasting their supports' time (as I have said, this has been a 14 months process so far, we're actually almost at the 15 month mark now). They said that this is the first time they have ever got a request for anything like this - but I don't think it's that rare to run an RG6 drop to a house that hasn't had Rogers services before, is it? I spoke to the Director of Public Works at my City Hall and he said that one of his neighbors a few streets over from mine actually got Rogers to install services there but it took them 2 years to get Rogers to do it - I'm getting closer to the 2 year mark myself. He said there's not much he can help with but he will approve any permits they require and anything like that. Is there any way I can escalate this or anything I can do about this? I have tried reaching out to Project Managers, Engineers, etc on the Rogers forums but the only one who has actually given me the time of day (and gave me any hope of getting this done in the first place) was Dave (he told me that this is the first request he ever got of this), and now he's gone from Rogers. Does anyone have any advice for navigating the tricky waters that are Rogers? I'm getting a little bit fed up with this, It's almost to the point where I want to go to the media about how insane this is just to get Rogers to actually do something. Am I just out of luck even though the tap is literally less than 100 meters away? Thanks.

Feedback on new modems

I am debating if I should go with Bell fibe Tv or Roger's Ignite TV and obviously I will be getting internet with one or the other. How are the Roger's technicolor and arris modems performing? Has bufferbloat and latency been improved?

Unllimited Data

Rogers is now offering unlimited 10gb of Data with no overage charges, but will slow you down afterwards. For the low low price of only $75/month +++ (I'm sure). I love how they market it as unlimited with a 10gb full speed cap. Talk about deceptive. It drops to 3G speeds after the 10gb is used. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/rogers-wireless-data-overage-1.5172522
