[Internet] Rogers torrent cap

Greetings, after two days of leeching the torrents the speed has dropped dramatically, going in spikes and not reaching over 1.2 MBps in total. While SCP download goes at 10.6 Mbyte/sec, the torrent traffic remains capped. Any mentioning of throttling to tech support is triggering a denial script, even a call drop :) Rebooted modem and PC a few times, tried switching to TCP, none fixed the issue. It was going fine at near full blast for a few days, running on 150 Mbps rogers "unlimited" package Any advise from fellow forum members please, switch to Bell or Tek Savvy maybe  ?

[Modem/Router] Cable modem with parental control

Looking for a cable modem+router (all-in-one) with a basic parental control such as to set a certain time limit (or time interval) per day for a kid's internet access. Cable provider: Carry Telecom, on Rogers network. They gave me the following modem: CGN3 Hiltron. I called Carry Telecom and asked if they have a suitable device. They said "no" Alternatively, does Rogers provide and support such a parental control I am looking for? I could switch to their service as a last resort. My kid is computer literate and capable of doing hard reset, but it goes beyond the topic :-)

Hello World, I am moving into a new development which offers both Bell Pure Fiber & Rogers RFoG (FTTH). Does anyone have experience with RFoG and the expected latency ? Is it close to Bell ? I have read on the Bell side you can get 2ms at times. Thanks in advance, LI.

Our RocketHub MF271CA recently starting randomly dropping Wi-Connection to devices; iPad, iPhone. Doesn't matter where we are; in some cases, we only have 2 bars showing, in others, we're stilling 10 feet away. We can reconnect immediately; no delay. DHCP lease time is 1440 hours. Any suggestions on how to correct this? Thanks

[Internet] Frequent short interruptions in service - Modem overheating?

$

Hi folks. Rogers 500down/20up cable service. Modem: CODA-4582U Thought I would post here before wasting time with a junior running me through a support script ;) With increasing frequency over the last 2 or 3 weeks (maybe longer), internet service drops and the modem goes through its reconnection steps. (Or more likely it self-reboots?) When I say increasing frequency, I mean it went to happening every few days, to couple days, to daily and now it's up to multiple times a day. Symptoms on wireless devices is internet just cuts out, and the SSID disappears. On an ethernet connected Windows 10 PC, I see a yellow warning icon on my network connection icon. Today, it went even showed a red icon briefly. This last for about 15 seconds and eventually all reconnects and returns to normal. I don't torrent, and rarely "game". It happens at all sorts of time of day, sometimes when several wireless devices are active, other times only my PC and cell phone are "active" on the network but even then, we're talking some web browsing, a bit of dropbox file copying and maybe a Spotify stream. Nothing "heavy". I'm not a noob, but not an IT pro either. I'm wondering if maybe the modem is overheating? Is that ever a problem? I've got a fan blowing on it right now to see if the problem re-occurs while purposely cooled. My DOCSIS event log is full of these two critical errors: 1 07/11/2019 13:03:33 82000600 critical Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - No response - Retries exhausted;CM-MAC=ac:20:2e:c0:c3:80;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:8b:06;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1; 2 07/11/2019 13:03:33 82000300 critical Ranging Request Retries exhausted;CM-MAC=ac:20:2e:c0:c3:80;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:91:8b:06;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;

Is getting a RG6 drop to an address really that groundbreaking?

Hi everyone, I have a cottage. I have been trying to get Rogers to run an RG6 drop from my very nearby tap to my address (my cottage is less than 100 meters away from a tap that only has one RG6 cable currently plugged into it) and it has not been going well so far. I mentioned this to Rogers Network Architect Dave a long time ago, and it has turned into a 14 month ordeal trying to get Rogers to literally do one RG6 drop to my cottage. It feels like the only person who actually made any progress was Dave but of course he has left Rogers in the time it has taken for me to try and get an RG6 drop to my cottage... I talk to their support on social media messages fairly regularly (I'm at over 20,000 words in my Word document thus far) and I have got them to admit that I am close enough to the tap (my neighbor south of me isn't) but they say I need a "plant extension" to make this happen which would cost well over $14,000 since "Tapping in with a temp RG6 cable would reduce the quality of service to you and the other customers already using that existing tap which is why the extension would be required". Never mind the fact that one of my neighbors across the street already has Rogers services (https://i.imgur.com/qcmZwIL.png) from that exact tap and one extra RG6 drop would make zero difference. They said I would have to pay a $14,000+ lump sum (which is insane) and that a payment plan is not a possibility, and last I "heard" they are "checking" to see if they will comp the cost and just install it so I can stop wasting their supports' time (as I have said, this has been a 14 months process so far, we're actually almost at the 15 month mark now). They said that this is the first time they have ever got a request for anything like this - but I don't think it's that rare to run an RG6 drop to a house that hasn't had Rogers services before, is it? I spoke to the Director of Public Works at my City Hall and he said that one of his neighbors a few streets over from mine actually got Rogers to install services there but it took them 2 years to get Rogers to do it - I'm getting closer to the 2 year mark myself. He said there's not much he can help with but he will approve any permits they require and anything like that. Is there any way I can escalate this or anything I can do about this? I have tried reaching out to Project Managers, Engineers, etc on the Rogers forums but the only one who has actually given me the time of day (and gave me any hope of getting this done in the first place) was Dave (he told me that this is the first request he ever got of this), and now he's gone from Rogers. Does anyone have any advice for navigating the tricky waters that are Rogers? I'm getting a little bit fed up with this, It's almost to the point where I want to go to the media about how insane this is just to get Rogers to actually do something. Am I just out of luck even though the tap is literally less than 100 meters away? Thanks.

[Modem/Router] Rogers Hitron CODA 4582 modem - Port 80 and 443 open with static

I got a new Coda modem installed at my business with a static IP. When doing a port scan, it turns out the modem has both ports 80, and 443 open. I have reached out to tech support to try to get these closed (at least on the WAN), however they claim that this cannot be closed because it is a static IP. Is this true, and if so what are my alternatives? I need a bridge mode modem that has no open ports and will work with Rogers.

[Modem/Router] Signal Levels

Good afternoon. I am new to the Rogers cable community and just wanted to make sure that my signal levels were acceptable. I am in an apartment building that recently got a deal with Rogers for both TV and Gigabit internet so the install is less than a week old. Thank for your time in advance and I look forward to being a part of the community.

For the last week Ive been having slow, intermittent disconnects on my internet. Im on the 500u package with a Hitron CODA-4582U Router (in bridge mode) to R7000. [Modem/Router] Another signal - level issue/question

I'm on Start in London on Rogers cable. I figure I'd post this here. What do these messages in my modem's event log mean: Service Change Response rejected - Invalid transaction ID;CM-MAC= (MAC-A) ; CMTS-MAC=(MAC-B) ;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Lost MDD Timeout;CM-MAC=(MAC-A);CMTS-MAC=(MAC-B);CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; Those 2 are happening in pairs and fill up the single page log listing in the modem. The modem is TC4530. The vendor-code for both MAC addresses is "Tabluae Limited". About 10, 15 minutes ago I tested my connection speed on speedtest.net and got these results: MNSI Windsor 2.82/1.41 Vnet Fiber Erie PA 29.65 / 2.17 Start London 3.00 / 4.08 Quadro Kirkton 3.26 / 3.85 Neustyle Software Waterloo 4.33 / 4.20 Stable Networks Hamilton 4.18 / 4.09 Vnet Fiber Erie PA 2.32 / 3.08 Start London 2.07 / 4.21 Pings are all pretty similar in the 15 - 20 ms range. Earlier this morning I was getting 30/4 on the start test. Last night I was getting horrible speeds (like 1.x / 3.x) and I still seem to be getting crappy and variable speeds. I'm paying for 30/5. Now maybe it's my (known / faulty) cable drop - which is burried. I'm seeing these power specs: Channels 1 - 13 (-18.8 to -24.5 dBmv) channels 14 - 24 (0 dBmv) channels 25 - 32 (-14.3 to -24.3 dBmv) I see 3 upstream channels, 43 to 45 dBmv. Is that the fundamental problem here? Weak signals? Caused by the torrential rain we had yesterday?

Poor Ignite 500u download speeds via WiFi

I have Rogers Ignite 500u. On my destop connected to the Hitron router through LAN, I'm getting speeds through speed tests in the range of 500+ Mbps. On my devices connected to wifi using the 5G connection, I am maxing out on avergae download speeds of 10Mbps to 20Mbps. Is this normal behaviour? My devices are about 40' from the router on the same floor of the house. I've run different speed tests on both a alptop, smartphone and media box and all consistently and significantly slower than my desktop. I'm a bit concerned as I think it is affecting the quality of my streaming of Youtube and other media. Is there any suggestions to improve the speeds of my wifi connections?

[TV] Re: Rogers cable TV/prices/billing

So a year ago finally upgraded from basic cable to a HD Box(non PVR) & the newer programming. Fast forward to now & the bill went from $42.93 to $57.39 to $73.44 what happened was the HD Equipment rental promo ended $12 discount. and the $15/month "TV Offer" ended as well. So calling in today to cancellation/loyalty & the guy says there isn't rent to own anymore from 2 years ago. I could have SWORE that when we initially did this the box was rent to own & the rental charge would drop off after awhile. Is this guy full of shit or what? The best he can do for me is a $15/month promo for the programming. So $57.93/month. Any other HELPFUL hints/tips or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. (yes yes I looked at Start/Teksavvy & Distributel for TV as well but they are all comparable in price so.....) EDIT I CLEARLY understand things are fluid in the business world but under NO circumstances do I want to be paying $12/month FOREVER on this stupid box. I don't want to outright buy it either, rent to own was the perfect solution imo so I am baffled as to how/why this got changed. Going to run across the street & see what the store has to say about it for shits & giggles. EDIT2: Store says that if it HAD BEEN rent to own it would have been $7.50/month for THREE years. Ugh so nothing doing there. So if anyone knows or has access to some secret trick/tricks of the trade to get the $12/month HD Box rental promo back holla at me please & thanks! It would be super duper greatly appreciated. The phone loyalty rep guy said that in 4 or 5 months just randomly call back & see if that promo is back & then we could have it applied to the account again but that's NOT a for sure thing UGH!!
