[Internet] Fido .... No internet

Hello... I'm guessing if one has issues with Fido this is the place to post it since Rogers own them. Anyone else having internet outage in Brampton?

Rogers New Technology

I was wondering if anyone knows what Rogers is testing / deploying for next gen - services when it comes to internet. I don't think I can remember a time this long where Rogers has been idle. Usually there was a new tier/technology being tested in the horizon. I think Ignite TV/Internet was the last thing they released. Thanks in advance.

[Internet] Office of the President information

Against my better judgment, I came back to Rogers after 16 years (most of which were with TPIA) as the package offered was "double the speed half the money " bait and switch promo. Unsurprisingly, but still frustrating, after 3 months I got a notification that the price is going up 3$/mth. Not the end of the world you might say, but it's the principle that matters. I was promised a fix price for 12 months. Ironically, as I type this, my internet is crawling (first time in these 3 months). Long story short...how do I contact the Office of the President and what was the govt agency that arbiters these type of scams?

[TV] Rogers Ignite TV - will it coexist with my MoCA home networking?

When I renovated my house 10 years ago, I never ran CAT5e cables in the walls... thought wifi was enough. Ugh. But, I soon found MoCA technology which provided me with near gigabit speed over copper coax. Still using this to connect various access points, TVs, media boxes, etc. I use Actiontec gear and a combo of MoCA 1.0 and 2.0. I assume the Rogers Ignite TV service needs to talk to the various boxes/tvs in my house. I also assume that it might use MoCA to do this. A) is that true? B) If true, could I still have a stable LAN network with my Actiontec MoCA on the same set of copper coax in my walls?

Cable TV weak signal - 'Service not available...'

I have an issue with Rogers cable tv. Some weeks ago, I recorded a movie but it was stuttering so much, I had to delete it. Checked the channel and indeed, the picture was stopping, like if the signal was interrupted. Now this happens only on the one tv which is on the end of a long cable, some of which is placed in exterior (leading to a cabin separated from the main house). I suspected a mouse chewing into the cable but it seems to be OK, at least where it is exposed and can be checked. The cable goes from the 'source' in the basement by longer cable to another part of the house, where it is split three way to three tvs, and at one of those TVs, I split it again two way to branch off for the cabin ( this goes via exterior). This worked for some 4 years no problem, until now. Well, it still works, but channel 48 TCM or 103 French, or MSNBC news and several other don't. I get black screen and after a bit, a message pops up 'This service is currently not available, Please try again later'. It is 'available' all right on all the other tvs, I moved the box from the cabin to the house where it works just fine. Also moved a box that works in the house to cabin and it doesn't work on those channels there. I suspect that the street connection to the house somehow started getting weaker signal these past few weeks and it 'hit' the tv which I have on a rather long cable run while the rest are still OK. I didn't call Rogers yet. I thought to put a signal booster inline in the cable, where it splits off for the cabin. Does somebody here have a tip on the product? I looked on Amazon but it seems most signal boosters are for use with normal antennas, not service like Rogers. Really have no idea if that makes any difference.

Rogers' policy on viewing diagnostic logs on their modems?

I checked the FAQs here on DSLReports, and searched the forum, but couldn't find any discussion about this. At least, nothing up to date. (Forgive me if I somehow managed to miss it.) As per the topic subject: What's Rogers' current policy regarding the end-user accessing the modem logs for diagnostic purposes? I ask, because I would guess many (if not all) Rogers issued modems have their log features locked down to varying degrees. (Like most major ISPs do, I believe.) And, more specifically, because something unusual recently happened to me. I signed up for the Ignite TV bundle a little while back. I received a Technicolor XB6 (CGM4140COM) modem. For several weeks, I was able to access the System and Firewall logs. Whether these were showing me all entries, or were partially filtered to hide some, I don't know. But at least they would show me something. The Event log (the most useful one, no less) never showed any entries, though. But just the other day, I logged into the modem's interface and noticed it had rebooted overnight. When I went to check the logs: none of them worked. And, in fact, I can't even use the "Reset Gateway" feature any more to reboot the modem. It, too, no longer works. So I tried power cycling the modem, for what it was worth. No change. Is anyone else experiencing this? Has Rogers recently decided to remotely reconfigure (at least some) modems to no longer allow access to diagnostic features, like the logs? Or is it just me? Not being able to access the logs is a bit annoying, because I won't be able to monitor and diagnose my connection as well as I'd like to. (Back when I was with a TPIA and owned my own modem, it was great being able to access all the diagnostic info without any restrictions.) P.S. I'm aware I could try a factory reset, but I'd rather not do that yet. Not until I've gotten some feedback.

Rogers putting Fiber in my neighbourhood - What to Expect?

Rogers is putting Fiber in my neighbourhood, I got one of those door cards 2 weeks ago, and within days I saw the Ditch Witch down the street working away, and huge rolls of conduit being run underground, which im assuming they will fish the fiber optic lines thru. I have Rogers Internet only, and the coax line from the Ped to my house is not working so they have me on a temp with my nex door neighbour. whats involved in the install do they put an ONT somewhere into my house and how does my modem connect to it? will i keep the same modem, or get a new one? i know that Bell runs the fiber to the ONT and an RJ45 cable to the modem, so im wondering how does rogers do this since my modem does not have a WAN port? the coax is the wan side? so does this mean their ONT has a fiber optic going in and coax coming out? just curious

I’ve been having issues with IG for a while now. Pictures and videos are very slow to load. This is resolved as soon as O switch to 3G/LTE. Tech support wont do anything. Am I the only one? Any suggestions?

Defective Xi6-A Ignite TV box

It was working since May. All of a sudden would not turn on. Then after unplugging it would only go as far as the Welcome screen. I found the steps to get to the manual WIFI set up (just to try something) but it did not work. Any other suggestions. I am waiting for a minion right now but I think they are busy with hurricane calls in the maritimes.

How to turn on Long Distance call alerts for cellphone?

I recently noticed that Rogers charged me Long Distance fees for calling from my cellphone from Markham to Oshawa, even though it is the same area code (905). Is there a way to turn on some kind of Long Distance alerts? It's not clear to me what they mean by "same geographical area" when they decide what is Long Distance and what is not.

[Internet] new install modem stats

Just got rogers installed today 1000/50 coda modem. had some decent speed tests for a bit, then noticed the upload dropped to 10meg and under. checked the stats, and it seems I had lost three of the upstream channels. Reset the modem, a few times and then realized the run from the dmarc looked bent beyond a 90 degree angle. As soon as I had the cable bent the other way, and reset the modem I was back with 4 upstream channels and everything worked semi ok. Ran a temp line from the dmarc with a new cable, and since then it seems to be much better. Was hoping someone may be able to take a quick look, and see if things are looking better with the temp drop. current stats Downstream Overview Port ID Frequency (MHz) Modulation Signal strength (dBmV) Channel ID Signal noise ratio (dB) 1 597000000 256QAM -0.100 8 36.610 2 849000000 256QAM -1.900 2 37.356 3 855000000 256QAM -2.100 3 37.356 4 861000000 256QAM -2.300 4 37.356 5 579000000 256QAM 0.100 5 37.356 6 585000000 256QAM 0.100 6 37.356 7 591000000 256QAM 0.000 7 37.356 8 279000000 256QAM 1.800 1 37.356 9 603000000 256QAM -0.600 9 37.356 10 609000000 256QAM -0.700 10 36.610 11 615000000 256QAM -0.800 11 36.387 12 621000000 256QAM -0.700 12 37.356 13 633000000 256QAM -0.500 13 37.356 14 639000000 256QAM -0.600 14 37.356 15 645000000 256QAM -0.400 15 37.356 16 651000000 256QAM -0.500 16 37.356 17 657000000 256QAM -0.500 17 37.356 18 663000000 256QAM -1.100 18 36.610 19 669000000 256QAM -1.000 19 36.387 20 675000000 256QAM -1.100 20 36.610 21 681000000 256QAM -1.100 21 36.610 22 687000000 256QAM -1.100 22 36.610 23 693000000 256QAM -1.500 23 36.387 24 699000000 256QAM -1.600 24 36.387 25 705000000 256QAM -2.000 25 36.387 26 711000000 256QAM -2.300 26 36.387 27 717000000 256QAM -2.100 27 36.387 28 723000000 256QAM -2.000 28 36.610 29 825000000 256QAM -1.800 29 37.356 30 831000000 256QAM -2.000 30 36.610 31 837000000 256QAM -2.000 31 36.610 32 843000000 256QAM -2.000 32 37.636 OFDM Downstream Overview Receiver FFT type Subcarr 0 Frequency(MHz) PLC locked NCP locked MDC1 locked PLC power(dBmv) 0 NA NA NO NO NO NA 1 4K 275600000 YES YES YES 0.599998 Upstream Overview Port ID Frequency (MHz) Modulation Signal strength (dBmV) Channel ID Bandwidth 1 22100000 ATDMA - 64QAM 31.250 5 3200000 2 25300000 ATDMA - 64QAM 31.250 6 3200000 3 36996000 ATDMA - 64QAM 31.250 8 6400000 4 30596000 ATDMA - 64QAM 29.250 7 6400000 OFDM/OFDMA Overview Channel Index State lin Digital Att Digital Att BW (sc's*fft) Report Power Report Power1_6 FFT Size 0 DISABLED 0.5000 0.0000 0.0000 -inf -1.0000 4K 1 DISABLED 0.5000 0.0000 0.0000 -inf -1.0000 4K speed test with temp new drop [att=1] old stats with the original cable drop but bent in the only way it would sync with 4 upstream channels https://imgur.com/a/5a0LGUd

Possible to use Ignite tv with my own router?

I currently have rogers tv and internet. Soon I’ll be getting a switch over to rogers Ignite tv and internet. I wish to use my ac68u router Wifi and put the Ignite modem in bridge mode. Rogers’ support site reads: If Ignite TV is connected to the Rogers Ignite Modem via WiFi, bridging your modem will disconnect your Ignite TV service.” What should I tell the install tech to ensure I won’t have any issues?

[Internet] Is FIDO Upgrade actually a downgrade?

$

I have FIDO Internet for a few years, 60Mbps/10Mbps and on 13th I used an offer and "upgraded" to 150Mbps/15Mbps for 50% off the regular rate for 12 months. Well, since then, I used Speedtest at different times of the day and with different Servers and I get only 40-55 Mbps/ 15 Mbps. So, have I been taken for a ride? I am in Toronto and not at a remote location. How is the experience of other FIDO Internet users? I am posting this to Rogers Forum as FIDO uses Rogers and there is no separate forum for FIDO in DSLReports.

[Modem/Router] Cheap Alternative to Renting Rogers' LTE Modem

$

My buddies previously owned ZTE LTE hub/router died and Rogers wants $12/mo rent. Any byod alternatives out there anyone can speak to he could buy outright to work on Roger's LTE internet service? Open to hub only that could be paired with a regular wifi router if that produces more options, integrated router is fine too. I wasn't sure if there was something that would work from Ali/Amazon etc. that wouldn't cost him an arm and a leg e.g. Digi box. And I'm not familiar enough to recommend the first hit that comes up when I search LTE hotspot on Ali/Amazon/google. Thanks.

Is strictly IPv6? Yep, it is. Wanna check? On your igniteTV stb and using the Rogers provided remote control press in the Exit Key for 5 seconds then down, down then the number 2 .... this will present you with a special screen that you can scroll down and see all the various settings .... no IPv4 address to be found .... only IPv6 address is listed for that stb. Then to get out of this special diagnostic screen press Exit again.

[Modem/Router] Rogers Hitron CODA 4582 modem - Port 80 and 443 open with static

I got a new Coda modem installed at my business with a static IP. When doing a port scan, it turns out the modem has both ports 80, and 443 open. I have reached out to tech support to try to get these closed (at least on the WAN), however they claim that this cannot be closed because it is a static IP. Is this true, and if so what are my alternatives? I need a bridge mode modem that has no open ports and will work with Rogers.

[TV] Ignite TV and STB169.x.x.x addresses

Did you know that the Ignite TV STB, yep all of them, all revert to a 169.x.x.x address within a very short period of time. Why, I do not know nor will Rogers explain Why or acknowledged this. It seems that a ipv4 address does get assigned to the STB by the DHCP server but within 60 seconds the STB reverts to a 169.x.x.x address ....the STB communicates LAN to WAN via ipv6 --- when looking at the STB diagnostic screens only ipv6 address are listed for that STB.
