[Internet] Do these modem stats indicate any problems?
I'm actually asking for a friend who has been complaining of problems; sites occasionally not loading, overall slowness, etc. Unfortunately, not actually being there in person to witness the issues, it's hard to see how bad or where the problem is. They're not the most tech literate either so it's difficult to determine the problem.
I took a look at her modem stats and they didn't look that bad to me but hopefully someone more informed can see better. I see that my friend is getting T3 errors on a daily basis. I don't think they've been losing connectivity entirely though. They just say it's slow.
I also did simple ping and traceroutes and didn't see any packet loss.
I believe it's something like a 150/15 speed package. Speed tests seem fine.
Thanks for any advice

[Internet] Rogers Rep wanted ID and CC details to send me a quote
A rep for Rogers came by and we chatted for almost an hour, said he was going to supply me a quote that he would email me but at the end said he wanted my financial details to send the quote and referred me to his tablet for proof. Since I refused I didn't get the quote.
I think this is a ruse to get people to unknowingly sign up and then have to cancel.
As we spoke about the package he demonstrated a great deal of ignorance and kept making excuses for his mistakes for which I was correcting him. He had been at it three years. He also said one price at the beginning, then raised it ten dollars and when he saw my annoyance brought it back down again as if he had had a non sequitur. I listened to his speal because I am looking to lower my Bell bill which keeps incrementing piecemeal by the month.

[Modem/Router] MoCA light lit with no MoCA devices?
Recently noticed the MoCA light on my router has lit up. Running a CODA 4582 in bridged mode, no other devices attached to the coax. Is a neighbour's network leaking? Should I be concerned?

[Internet] Is FIDO Upgrade actually a downgrade?
I have FIDO Internet for a few years, 60Mbps/10Mbps and on 13th I used an offer and "upgraded" to 150Mbps/15Mbps for 50% off the regular rate for 12 months. Well, since then, I used Speedtest at different times of the day and with different Servers and I get only 40-55 Mbps/ 15 Mbps. So, have I been taken for a ride? I am in Toronto and not at a remote location. How is the experience of other FIDO Internet users?
I am posting this to Rogers Forum as FIDO uses Rogers and there is no separate forum for FIDO in DSLReports.

[Internet] Sick of Rogers up-sell false information
Got several calls from Rogers outbound and I answered two of them. Both calls claimed that I am on a legacy plan and the new offer is going to offer me better speed plus TV service a bonus. When I answered the first call I thought I was still on the 500 (or 250?) plan. However after I declined it I checked and I am currently on the Gigabit plan.
Anyway, the second call today told me the same thing today that I am on the 150 (?). I asked her if she's sure that I am on 150. She double checked and realized I am on the Gigabit. Then she said she can still offer me the deal but of course it is going to be more expensive than what I am paying now, since it includes the TV service. She claimed that I will be getting a new modem and I will be getting faster speed with no disconnection. lol I knew that's not true so I asked her how is the offer going to be better if I need to pay more. She said because the new plan is Ignite. I said so that's just the name and they both say Gigabit. She then said I will be getting a new modem, so I asked what's the difference between the modems. She replied with something about my current modem only has two XXXXXXX (couldn't catch the term, something I have never heard of) and the new one got 16. It also offers better wifi.
After I have declined her offer and hung up, I double checked my current internet package name. It's the same as the in-market one, except the rep said "Gigabyte" instead of "Gigabit".
I am posting hoping that other customers are aware of tricks that the reps may put on customers. For a regular customer one may fall into those false statements.

Rogers or Fido will never get my business
Hey, Rogers / Fido thanks to your idiot can't speak English properly Technician you 2 will never see my business again. I'm changing internet providers from Fido to TekSavvy so I get a call from a tech guy from Rogers and it was schedile from 4 to 6pm, no problem I said. get another call from the same guy who I can hardly understand with his broken English around 7:30. At this point I already returned the Fido Modem at Rogers outlet and had hooked up the TekSavvy Modem... So now I'm thinking everything is good and told the idiot everything is working and all he said was oh you have internet now and I said yeah. Well, afterward I call TekSavvy to see if I was hooked into their service and I wasn't. Now why this idiot didn't just say he's here for the TekSavvy hookup and not mention he's from Rogers which is what he told me? I'm thinking he was working for Fido and had nothing to do with switching me over since he didn't say anything about it. And since I didn't get switched over wouldn't he had known it since he was the one that was supposed to do it?

Internet cuts out very frequently
So I’ve been with Rogers for over 10 years. I’ve had consistent issues throughout this time. I’ve dealt with it since there was no one else to go to as far as speed. Bell offers me 5 down which isn’t worth it for me. Start.ca is installing fibre to the home in my neighbourhood. They’re offering me 1000 down 50 up for $50 a month.
My issue is my speeds are fine when I do a speedtest although day to day it cuts out frequently. I’d be on YouTube/Facebook and it would start buffering. What can I do at this point Rogers tells me it’s my third party router when it’s not as this has been an on going issue for 10 years. Every call they make me unplug my router and tell me it’s the cause. I actually gave it a shot and used the built in CODA and the issue still happened. I’ve had techs at my house every month and all they do is switch the modem or tell me it’s all okay. My neighbour next door doesn’t have internet issues like I do. He even mentioned when he’s over our internet is really bad compared to his. We‘ve “senior” techs out as well and they say it’s a bad line outside and when they send another guy over all they do is replace the modem.
I feel like I’m going in circles at this point. Tech support are useless as they only want to troubleshoot and turn off my router. Techs only swap the modem.
The only reason I don’t want to switch is because I pay 29.95 after tax for 500 down 20 up.

Rogers putting Fiber in my neighbourhood - What to Expect?
Rogers is putting Fiber in my neighbourhood, I got one of those door cards 2 weeks ago, and within days I saw the Ditch Witch down the street working away, and huge rolls of conduit being run underground, which im assuming they will fish the fiber optic lines thru. I have Rogers Internet only, and the coax line from the Ped to my house is not working so they have me on a temp with my nex door neighbour. whats involved in the install do they put an ONT somewhere into my house and how does my modem connect to it? will i keep the same modem, or get a new one? i know that Bell runs the fiber to the ONT and an RJ45 cable to the modem, so im wondering how does rogers do this since my modem does not have a WAN port? the coax is the wan side? so does this mean their ONT has a fiber optic going in and coax coming out? just curious

Rogers Can Drop Practices it Tells Customers
Last May, I was actively thinking about dropping my Rogers Rocket Hub internet for Bell at the cottage. I called Rogers to confirm any contract constraints. When they heard I was going to Bell they did a couple of things:
- Told me I could suspend my service when the cottage was shutdown. The suspension charge was $7/mth.
- They discounted my service by 50%.
I just called today to suspend my service and was told the $7/mth suspension was no longer offered. I said I'd like to cancel my service. They then came back with a number of offers including switch to Pay-as-you-go then switching back in the spring to full data. I said I didn't trust them after loosing my $7/mth suspension. They finally found a $30/mth suspension offer and, oh, being nice, they will not charge the normal $35 for coming off suspension.
The services at 50% off is a good deal for a cottage so I'll stay with Rogers for now. Can't wait to hear what is has changed in terms of practices in the spring when I come off suspension ;-)

[Internet] Absolutely no servers?
It looks like the Rogers TOS prohibit running any kind of servers whatsoever:
"Without limitation, you may not use (or allow anyone else to use) our Services to:
xvi. operate a server in connection with the Services, including, without limitation, mail, news, file , gopher, telnet, chat, Web, or host configuration servers, multimedia streamers or multi-user interactive forums"
Is it so serious? Nobody runs even a PLEX server on their connection? It's 2019. Many things are "servers" now. I may want to run an OpenVPN server to look at my cameras at home, for example. I can name more examples.

My gigabit internet woes.
So a number of months ago, we switched from the old rogers bundle to Ignite, we have TV, Internet, and Home phone through Rogers. Particulars of the service we are getting include 4 Ignite TV boxes, internet package is the 1-gig, Home security, and Home phone. We are in the St. Laurent area in Ottawa.
At the end of September I noticed that I wasn't getting speeds that I was paying for. I called Rogers and they sent out a tech..
Late September:
Tech 1 (Link-on systems) Tech came out, removed some kind of plug at the back of the modem and at the indoor drop inside the house and told me issue would resolve itself. I wasn't happy with this result, so I called back and requested another tech.
Tech 2 (Link-on systems) Tech came out, checked the cables to the modem, and the indoor drop in the house, Swaped the modem, and he ran his own speed tests told me he would escalate this to his supervisor..
Day went by with no contact so I called rogers, said they woud send out a senior representative;
Tech 3 (Link-on systems senior tech) He came out, checked the drop inside the house, the wifi, replaced the modem again, re-applied the latest patch to it, re-pushed the internet package we're on. He then climed the pole and replaced a section of cable that a squirrel had chewed into, He started doing speed tests with his laptop and was getting speeds of 600-ish. He said these were acceptable speeds, and if I wasn't getting the speeds the problem was on my end. (I wasn't impressed with this at all). We ran a bunch more speed tests and the speeds went down again to 300-ish while he was here. He said he would escalate the issue to the backend. He also said he would get tech 2 to replace the line from the pole to the house while he was training more techs and be out of town. Gave me his cell phone number (one assigned to him by his company) if I had any more problems.
Tech 2 (Link-on systems); Was a rainy day and didn't want to come out and replace the line, said he would do it another day. Never showed up at the house.
Tried contacting the senior tech via text, the messages were never replied to at all..So I
called rogers again, they'd send out a different tech:
Tech 4 (Forefront solutions); This was the original guy that swapped us over to the ignite bundle.
Told him we were having issues with Speed & little problems with artifacts/blocky characters on the TV rarely. He told me that the previous tech spliced the cable at the wrong spot stating there was water inside the cable and the previous tech spliced it wrong, he reported it up the chain of command. Tech3 wired a new cable from pole to house. While tech 4 was doing some paperwork on his computer tech 3 called me. tech3 sounded peeved, handed call to tech 4 (unsure of what went on) But Tech 3 seemed to take ownership of the issue at this point. Tech 4 installed the "pods" in the house to combat the blockyness we were getting rarely (don't seem to be getting this anymore) But the speed issue continues. Fast.com reports a 250-400Mbps, Speedtest reports 250-440Mbps, and rogers speedtest 300-500 (for the most part discount this result since it doesn't leave the rogers network).
I have since contacted tech support a few times, but they escalate this to the back end, but they close the ticket after finding nothing wrong with the line.. My last conversation with tech support the representative said that he was making sure that the backend were aware of my speed issues and not just line issues.. and made sure that the backend knew that there were 3 modem swaps total.. I have been compensated 85$ for the lack of speed on the account, so there's that.
..... updates to follow
edit: clarified the tech3 and 4 area a bit better

[TV] Can subscribers pre-select or pre-order types of modems & STB's?
Hello,

Rogers browser message about new smart wifi
I keep getting this Rogers message (wish I had a screenshot duh) that starting next week there will be some kind of switching wifi thing that will jump from 5G to non-5g (I assume my 2 available networks from my rogers modem now)
Will I be able to turn it off?
If im playing a multiplayer FPS in the garage on a 5G 2bar signal will it switch me off 5G to the 4-5bar? That'd be bad right?
Don't know why I cant find anything about this im probably searching the wrong name ill post a screenshot when it comes.

I wanted to review the Leafs / Golden Knights game from last night.

So the Leafs game stream ends with about 2 minutes left in the game.
Everything after that wiped out.

Is getting a RG6 drop to an address really that groundbreaking?
Hi everyone,
I have a cottage. I have been trying to get Rogers to run an RG6 drop from my very nearby tap to my address (my cottage is less than 100 meters away from a tap that only has one RG6 cable currently plugged into it) and it has not been going well so far. I mentioned this to Rogers Network Architect Dave a long time ago, and it has turned into a 14 month ordeal trying to get Rogers to literally do one RG6 drop to my cottage. It feels like the only person who actually made any progress was Dave but of course he has left Rogers in the time it has taken for me to try and get an RG6 drop to my cottage... I talk to their support on social media messages fairly regularly (I'm at over 20,000 words in my Word document thus far) and I have got them to admit that I am close enough to the tap (my neighbor south of me isn't) but they say I need a "plant extension" to make this happen which would cost well over $14,000 since "Tapping in with a temp RG6 cable would reduce the quality of service to you and the other customers already using that existing tap which is why the extension would be required". Never mind the fact that one of my neighbors across the street already has Rogers services (https://i.imgur.com/qcmZwIL.png) from that exact tap and one extra RG6 drop would make zero difference. They said I would have to pay a $14,000+ lump sum (which is insane) and that a payment plan is not a possibility, and last I "heard" they are "checking" to see if they will comp the cost and just install it so I can stop wasting their supports' time (as I have said, this has been a 14 months process so far, we're actually almost at the 15 month mark now). They said that this is the first time they have ever got a request for anything like this - but I don't think it's that rare to run an RG6 drop to a house that hasn't had Rogers services before, is it? I spoke to the Director of Public Works at my City Hall and he said that one of his neighbors a few streets over from mine actually got Rogers to install services there but it took them 2 years to get Rogers to do it - I'm getting closer to the 2 year mark myself. He said there's not much he can help with but he will approve any permits they require and anything like that.
Is there any way I can escalate this or anything I can do about this? I have tried reaching out to Project Managers, Engineers, etc on the Rogers forums but the only one who has actually given me the time of day (and gave me any hope of getting this done in the first place) was Dave (he told me that this is the first request he ever got of this), and now he's gone from Rogers. Does anyone have any advice for navigating the tricky waters that are Rogers? I'm getting a little bit fed up with this, It's almost to the point where I want to go to the media about how insane this is just to get Rogers to actually do something. Am I just out of luck even though the tap is literally less than 100 meters away?
Thanks.
