[Internet] Just got connected to Ignite 500u
I used speedtest.net and the speed test on dslreports.com. Take a look.
I managed to sign up for the $24.99 promotion that they were running, I had to ask a bunch of times, but eventually I got it. Going to have to say farewell to Techsavvy for now. But I hope to be back soon!

[TV] Thinking of getting a NextBox 3, are the launch bugs ironed out?
My parents need a new HDPVR box and I haven't had cable in a long time so I'm out of the loop on this!
The rental fee for a NB3 is like $20+ so I wanted to buy the 9865HD box for them. I recall in the early days of Nextbox 3 there were a lot of people on here upset with 2am updates and other annoyances/bugs.
Have those issues been resolved via updates since then? I also recall people saying they were prone to failure & had to be swapped often, is that still the case? I wanted to buy a used one (I'll make sure serial # is ok first), but is it better to just bite the bullet and pay $499 for the 2 year warranty?
On a rogers.com forum it said the only difference between NB3 & NB4 is 4k output, is there any reason to get an NB4 if it will only be used for standard HD?

[Outage] Coda4582 down, second light blinking
Hi,
Since internet is down I'm using my tiny phone to post this. Appolegies for typos etc in advance.
I'm in Ottawa fallowfield barrhaven. 1gb service. This morning I noticed the speed was very slow about 10mb down Vs 900mb. I've tried to reboot modem multiple times without any luck. Since about 9am or earlier I lost internet all together. All I see on the cable modem is power light on and the second down led is blinking in yellow. The fifth led is on. The rest of leds are off. I've tried to reboot modem several times without any success. Im still on 2.0.10.33t11 firmware. So this is not firmware issue. Under log I only see lost mdd timeout warning. The date on the modem sits on Jan 1, 1970... And under docsys wan I see network access... In process. It looks to me modem cannot register/sync with Rogers network. Is this Rogers network issue or my coda modem want belly up? Should I call Rogers? I saw some network van across the street... Not sure if it was Rogers contractor..
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I don't see the service on the Rogers Internet home page.
Ignite 150 is the highest speed that I see offered as of today.

Just upgraded to500u but slower speed
[att=1]
When I was on 100u, I was getting 150 down. I understand its up to 500 but on a speedtest it should pretty close. Using the Coda modem even when I was on 100u and its in bridge mode.

Coda 4582 won't boot
The Coda 4582 stopped responding one night.
After unplugging the power and then plugging the power in, there is no activity from the modem. The only LED that is lit is the power light.
A technician came out and stated that the issue modem related so the modem was swapped. Connections to the internet can be made again :)
There seems to be a shortage of Coda 4582 modems at the moment?
Does any know which batch of Coda 4582 exhibit this issue where it fails
to boot?
What exactly causes these devices to suddenly stop working?
i.e. Is it a firmware issue, CPU or chipset issue or is it just a QA issue with the hardware?

Is it all Rogers (as in rcable) being read or all Yahoo email being read?

[Internet] Youtube lagging/buffering for the past 1 month! VERY ANNOYING!
Hi,
Youtube has been lagging and buffering non stop on my rogers internet for over a month now. It has become very annoying and irritating.
I have Rogers 1gbps internet, and the speedtest on rogers website show full speed, but its only when watching Youtube that this problem occurs.
This problem is limited to Youtube only. It is not related to a specific machine/browser/addons/etc.
I have tried to use a VPN, and youtube works perfectly on that with no issues. So it is definitely Rogers internet fault.
I have also tried different DNS to see if that would solve the issue, but it does not.
How can I escalate this issue to Rogers technical support? As I feel their customer service might just give me the run around.
Any of you have any suggestions on how I can fix this on my end without using a VPN?
Thank you.

[Internet] Rogers Gigabit - Only getting 250mbps
Helo DSL Report Gurus,
I recently moved (sold my soul) from TekSavvy 150 to Rogers 1Gbps/30mbps for a deal I could not pass up.
However using the same coaxial outlet that my TSI modem was in I am only getting speeds of 200-290mbps down and a solid 33 up.
I am seeking advice on how I can improve my speeds. I have a feeling it may be one of the following factors:
-I live in rowhouses/townhouses but based off the wifi names its 80% bell users.
-The coax port comes 'from' the wall, its not a faceplate this leads me to believe someone may have pulled it and I am unaware if this is the shortest run or not. All the other coax that is on a wall plate does not work with the modem.
My setup is as follows:
Coax > CODA-4582U > Cat6 (50ft) > WatchGuard T10 > Cat5 (2ft) > Cisco SG-300 > Devices
Speeds are 200-290mbps
Tested as well:
Coax > CODA-4582U > Cat6 (3ft) > Laptop
Speeds are around 320mbps
Modem: CODA-4582U (in bridged mode)
Hardware Version 1A
Software Version 2.0.10.28T2

[Prices] 2 year, $48 tax inc. price guarantee, has jumped in 2nd month.
The door to door rep that signed me up for their Gigabit service assured me of this price.
This is Rogers, the price for the first month was spot on, now on the 2nd month, it has jumped to $54.
Did I get bamboozled or can the promised pricing by the rep be made to be honored by Rogers?
Edit:
Well, after chatting with Rogers, I was told the following, "The promotion on your account is not a contract, but is a discount guarantee for 24 months. The discount will remain on your account for the full 24 month period. It would only be a term with a contract that had a price fix guarantee. Since the majority of customers no longer wanted contracts, Rogers has moved to discount guarantees instead of contracts."
The Rep who sold me the service promised me that the price would be $48 tax inc for a 2 year guarantee. That led me to believe that this was protected then from any of the infamous Roger's price hikes that I've read about in other threads.

Hey Rogers - You're Fired!
Have just cancelled Rogers cable/internet at my cottage due to the scumbag Yahoo/Oath policies that Rogers will enforce (gun to their head or not).
Anyone with a Rogers.com email address should consider registering your own domain for a few bucks/year and doing just e-mail hosting with somebody who won't sell you out.
Hushmail.com (Canada) and Protonmail.com (Switzerland) are good choices if all you want is a single e-mail address.
...oh, Rogers.....don't bother having Retentions reach out to me. You've sold the last of your pitiful soul to the devil.

[Internet] 1-3% Packet loss on upload. Games unplayable
Hi All,
I'm at my wits end as it pertains to Rogers. I have a 500d/20u package, that had been working more-or-less perfectly since I moved in last May. I decided I would start streaming to Twitch in February, and immediately started noticing 20-30% frame drops while trying to stream at a measly 2.5-3Mbps. Called Rogers, tech replaced the cable. and said everything was good, but it was during the day with no load. Continued to have issues, senior tech came out and said everything was fine again. I even replaced the modem twice hoping that it was something simple like that. I basically gave up streaming due to this, and put my priorities elsewhere. Unfortunately within the last months, I started noticing severe stuttering when playing CSGO, to the point where it's unplayable. It's just really hard to prove to Rogers that there IS an issue.
Yesterday, I tried giving Wireshark a try and saw multiple packets being re-transmitted per second. Connected to my hot spot on my phone and saw maybe one packet being retransmitted every 10-30 seconds. So this really showed the quality over Ethernet was really suffering. I tried the exact same tests on my wife's PC over ethernet, and she's experienced the same issues.
Any ideas how I should move forward with Rogers? Bell's plans are terrible in my area and I'd like to keep the speeds I have, possible.
Thanks,
Clyde

Rogers rep informed me I need a lawyer!
Long story short Retention department promised me a certain price and I was charged more than that. Called to get this corrected and was told that I agreed to this higher price. Requested a transcript of my call with retention and was told I need a lawyer... then transferred back to retention. lol
Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this type of situation before and any advice on how to get that transcript or recording?

[Modem/Router] 192.168.100.1 isn't reliable?!
Hi, All
Just noticed that accessing bridged CODA 4582U modem via 192.168.100.1 wasn't reliable. I'm currently on version 34T6. It had 2 times, each time happened in couple of days after a modem firmware upgraded. Have to manually reboot the modem to get it worked again.
Current DOCSIS logs are very simple:
2 notice (SW Download INIT - Via NMS, SW download Successful - Via NMS) and then 1 warning (MIMO Event MIMO: Stored MIMO=-1 post cfg file MIMO=-1;CM-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;CMTS-MAC=yy:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1)
But failed to access modem via 192.168.100.1.

[Modem/Router] Coda-4582u HW init process...
My modem went out earlier this morning and is currently sitting at "HW init: Process.." So it's not even able to find a signal.
I've contacted Rogers, there's no area outage so they're sending a tech and told me to try replacing my modem because it's "bad".
Does this mean my modem is bad or there's a problem with the signal? Unfortunately it's too late to go to a Rogers store and replace the modem so if I can avoid that then I'd like to. I'd also not like to wait until a tech comes to get service again.

[Internet] Rogers 500D/20U Package
Hi everyone, I looked at some previous posts, and will hopefully provide a descriptive summary of the issue.
I live in Pickering, specifically near Major Oaks and Brock Rd.
I have the 500/20 Rogers package.
Been having issues with slow speeds/ degraded performance in streaming/ latency issues/disconnects in games.
Rogers CODA 4582 Modem.
Work Already Completed:
1) Replaced the line coming from the street to my home.
2) Replaced home cables from R59 to R6 cable.
3) Tech provided amplifier, and then removed amplifier.
4) Attempted to use the modem both in regular and bridged mode.
Unfortunately the issue persists.
I'm looking for next steps.
Here are the current signal levels.
