[Internet] What do I say to Rogers?

$

I’m moving to a new home. It’s not exactly ritual, but it’s not in a subdivision either. Rogers live chat confirmed service was available 3 doors down from my new house, and when I peek in the service box directly in front of my home, I see coax cable already there. However, when calling customer service and talking to a live chat person, they all sound confused as to why there isn’t service at my home. I think it’s just because the previous (original) owners did not use cable and as a result, it was never brought Right up to my house. Does anyone have any tips, contacts, or ideas about how I can convince Rogers that I am indeed serviceable? I’m brand new to this and appreciate any help at all.

[Internet] Youtube lagging/buffering for the past 1 month! VERY ANNOYING!

Hi, Youtube has been lagging and buffering non stop on my rogers internet for over a month now. It has become very annoying and irritating. I have Rogers 1gbps internet, and the speedtest on rogers website show full speed, but its only when watching Youtube that this problem occurs. This problem is limited to Youtube only. It is not related to a specific machine/browser/addons/etc. I have tried to use a VPN, and youtube works perfectly on that with no issues. So it is definitely Rogers internet fault. I have also tried different DNS to see if that would solve the issue, but it does not. How can I escalate this issue to Rogers technical support? As I feel their customer service might just give me the run around. Any of you have any suggestions on how I can fix this on my end without using a VPN? Thank you.

What kind of FTTx Rogers is? Does it real FTTHouse? Bell gigabit always FTTH(Home) When I living in apartment it wasn't FTTAppartment, it was FTTB with RG-6 from Rogers box on building wall to apparment. Why I asking. I live in house where only Bell 5mbps available, new houses built on the end of my backyard, distance to neighbor 100m. Bell gigabit available per address, Rogers per postal code. Rogers and Bell refuse to install. I have box of 500 ft unused cable, it's RG-6 Quad Shield, approved for 3 GHz. I can run it there. Houses finished outside, land is sand. I found this houses on realtor listed 2.4 - 3 millions. After contractors install fence I can put cable on ground near fence. But what next? How to tell Rogers to connect cable at one street and install on another? Rogers and Bell refuse to install cause attaching cable to trees or just dig into ground not their way. Bell better, lower ping, SPF adaptor inside modem can be plugged into your router. RG-6 pulling strenght 20kg Practically hard to break by hands. Easy to connect 2 cables.

[Internet] Have you switched from Bell?

Hi, I just wanted to check if anyone has switched from Bell to Rogers. Currently, I have Bell 1Gbps. Although it varies, the advertised speeds are 1Gbps download and up to 940 Mbps upload. I do get pretty high upload. Rogers is offering 1Gbps download but it says on 30 Mbps upload. The Rogers rep continues to say they use Bell Fiber and it's FTTH and not Cable. I'm not too sure about that. Is rogers supposed to be better or equivalent to Bell? I thought Bell Fiber is miles ahead of Rogers but wanted some thoughts as well.

New Remotes

Went into Rogers store after my old remote for the old SA PVR decided that it was going to respond very slowly to button pushes. They instantly swapped it for a new style remote. It's terrible. The settings button (Shift Menu ... which you can't seem to do) doesn't go into cable box settings. You have to use the buttons on the box. Menu us the same as Guide. The exit button does NOTHING when in Guide or Info The page up/down buttons to scroll quicker through the guide, are tiny and awkwardly placed and definitely too close together. Many other nuisance things about them. Is there any way to get the old style remote?

[Internet] Streaming on twitch

Been streaming on twitch for a while but can't keep it up consistently due to Rogers "30mb" upload. Have the gigabit package. On CODA modem with 35T1. Have switched modem, bought a new router. Called in tech support multiple times, they always come and just do speed tests and leave. Speeds sometime show fine but it's never consistent. Might go up to 30mb upload and drop down to 1-5mb upload. Had a senior tech on the case and was told he's tracking down the issue, that was around 2 months ago. Never had a response after that. Been messaging them on twitter constantly and calling. It's always the same thing, unplug the router so we can test your modem. It was fine for 2-3 weeks and by the end of the first month same issues started to show up, tried to get it fixed but no luck so I back to Rogers cause the download was slow with Start.ca. Have attached some speedtests results even tho it won't make a difference. A stream test when it lags and on some days when I can do 8+ hrs stream without any issues. I wanna know what are my options other than moving to a place with better internet. Just can't quit doing this :(

Hi everyone, I looked at some previous posts, and will hopefully provide a descriptive summary of the issue. I live in Pickering, specifically near Major Oaks and Brock Rd. I have the 500/20 Rogers package. Been having issues with slow speeds/ degraded performance in streaming/ latency issues/disconnects in games. Rogers CODA 4582 Modem. Work Already Completed: 1) Replaced the line coming from the street to my home. 2) Replaced home cables from R59 to R6 cable. 3) Tech provided amplifier, and then removed amplifier. 4) Attempted to use the modem both in regular and bridged mode. So against my better judgement, finally pulled the trigger on calling Loyalty & switching from Basic Cable with the DTA adapter to; Rogers Select channel package with an HD/Nex box. What I am *trying* to find or asking assistance in is a brief channel line up/listing that includes: *Which* channels are in the Select package AND the channel #'s(preferably for London, ON) that coincide with those channels. So far I've found: https://www.rogers.com/cms/rogers/page-specific/tv/channels/pdf/Channel-List-ON-ALL-EN_NTV.pdf http://channelguides.ca/rogers.php?Location=London&Package=Starter&Type=HD So the first is good but does not have the Channel #'s, the 2nd link...I am NOT confident it is up to date. So any positive/helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated in this regard. Please & thanks!

I'm sure this is common knowledge to a lot of people but just wanted to share my experience with Rogers and their customer relations department in 'negotiating' a better internet deal. Last October I changed packages with them. To 150u package for $60+tax. Here are two quotes from our chat last year and where they described and summarized the offering: 02:48:11 PM [Tallia ] Thank you for your patience XXXXX. As I mentioned I reached out to my support team and we are able to offer you our Ignite 150u for $60+tax = $67.80 for the next 12 months. Now I know you are being offered $50 for unlimited usage but this would be our absolute best offer. How does that sound? 03:01:16 PM [Tallia ] Perfect! Just to recap, here's what we've done today: -started a new Internet offer with ignite 150u for $60+tax monthly for the next 12 months. Fast forward to this weekend, and I of course noticed that they raised the price a few months back on me (auto billing, I was forgetting to check the e-bill). I went to chat with them again, and I got the company line from them that was on the bill about the notice, when I questioned that I was clearly promised a price, and no one said 'it's discounted by $40/month off whatever the price is we are charging at that time', we had a little back and forth and they credited me the difference from the last few months, and set up credits for the next few months. I kind of had a feeling it was discount guaranteed, so I should have kept an eye, but those lines are pretty clear they are stating the final monthly price. Now get this. In the chat today, after apologizing for the miscommunication, they do the exact same thing again. (from today): 11:40:00 AM [Lav] You're welcome, I can also see that this promotion of you's is ending October of this year in 2 months, If you would like I am able to add the same discounted promotion (67.79 taxes in) for 12 months starting today. This way you can have the same reduced cost for additional 12 months rather than getting back to the normal price. I want to make sure you feel good after this chat. Notice they use the words discounted promotion, but again, only mention the final price, and state for 12 months. How is anyone supposed to extrapolate from that, that it's only promising the discount again and not the price, even though they only talk about the price. Earlier in the chat he did say that future promotions are discount guaranteed, so then why again are they talking about final price 'for 12 months'. Are they violating anything here? or is this 'acceptable language' for them? I'll probably just end up switching to a third party ISP because of this, tired of what seems like deceptive billing practices from Rogers. I'm glad that they ended up honouring the pricing they originally offered, but we shouldn't have to monitor our bills every month for a price hike when they had told a price.

pfSense with IPv6 on Rogers

Hi all, I found a post a few days ago with some good information along with a forum member who is a Rogers employee and uses pfSense as well, but I can't find it for the life of my any more (googling "site:dslreports.com rogers ipv6 pfsense" didn't help :/) I've tinkered with the settings changing the requested prefix from 48 up to 64, as well as trying certain settings on and off. I've gone as far as rebooting the computer each time hoping that would make it start fresh and get the IPv6 address. So far ONCE I was able to get one assigned to the WAN interface, but while trying to get the LAN interface set up suddenly it stopped working entirely. Now I'm not sure if it's a problem with my setup or Rogers. Can anyone let me know what the latest settings are to get this to work? I am running pfSense 2.4.3 if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Any one else having issues getting a second ipv4/6 address?

[Internet] Rogers dead download 0mbps, after reboot only works for 10 min

Hi, I am posting it here to see if anyone has ever solved a similar problem. My location: Scarborough M1S. I have had rogers for years. It worked well until three weeks ago, my internet goes down a lot. It is almost unusable. The last 5 speed test results are: 0.1/down 71/up (mbps) 377/down 42/up 474/down 78/up 190/down 34/up 0.01/down 31/up (within 10 minutes, computer connected to router(modem) with cat5e cable directly.) The download is just dead every a few while. Could be 2 sec or 10 min, it is just randomly that I have no internet connection. Factory reset, reboot the modem many times. It shoots up to 900Mbps/down sometimes right after the modem reboots, then went bad in a while. The funny thing is, when speed test failed, Ping & MTR works just fine. While I browse on computer, 80% of the time pages are blank with Chrome loading icon spinning. It loads or fails after a while. 20% of the time page loads instantly. Youtube is on and off, it is good when it transfers; or just stuck loading. Tried SSH tunneling and VPN to other place, it does not improve anything. Had two technician visits this week. They replaced some connectors outside the house, and while they were here, Internet worked for 20 min. After they left, later in the afternoon the Internet connection start to fail again. Checking the modem stats, it appears that dBms gets higher. But it does not fix the dead download. I called rogers to have the 3rd technician visit. But I don't think he will do anything different from the last two guys. Rogers ignite gigabit internet, CODA 4582u.
