I have Cisco 9865HD NextBox with 1TB HDD that broke down and since I own it, Rogers won't replace it.
When plugged in, the hard drive makes some clicking sounds twice and I think it doesn't spin up, the box then goes to display 'Boot' and stays there forever.
I wonder if failed hard drive might disable the box as such, or what. Maybe if I open it and unhook the drive, the box might finish boot and work? I am half a geek, used to build PCs from parts, can solder and do some limited measuring on electronics with voltmeter.
If the HDD was OK, I suppose it couldn't be swapped into another box (also owned, since its full of movies), probably Rogers has all basis covered and one would have to be serious cracker to do anything with these boxes.
Is someone interested in such failed boxes?

[EMail] BIZ - SMTP Relay Issues
Hello,
I am a business subscriber and up until recently I have been able to relay exchange outgoing SMTP via smtp.rogerswireless.ca. (No authentication)
Now, this doesn't work nor does smtp.broadband.rogers.com
The problem with authentication is that all outgoing email uses that rogers.com email address instead of the exchange domain.
Anyone have any idea how to work with this?
Thanks :)

[Internet] How can I hog all the bandwidth?
Hello,
I would like some advice if I could. I currently have Gigabit internet with Rogers. My tennant (in a basement apartment) has been happily sharing my connection for a few years now. He has decided that he now wants his own cable internet connection at around 150Mbps, but by adding another modem on the same cable line.
I know this will affect the performance of all modems on the wire, and he is irritating me by making this move.
My question is: Is there some way to ensure that my Gigabit connection is constantly using all available bandwidth on the line? I want to make sure he realized how slow his stupid move will make his connection.
Any advice is most appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Is getting a RG6 drop to an address really that groundbreaking?
Hi everyone,
I have a cottage located about 2 hours north of TO, ON. I have been trying to get Rogers to run an RG6 drop from my very nearby tap to my address (my cottage is less than 100 meters away from a tap that only has one RG6 cable currently plugged into it) and it has not been going well so far. I mentioned this to Rogers Network Architect Dave a long time ago, and it has turned into a 14 month ordeal trying to get Rogers to literally do one RG6 drop to my cottage. It feels like the only person who actually made any progress was Dave but of course he has left Rogers in the time it has taken for me to try and get an RG6 drop to my cottage... I talk to their support on social media messages fairly regularly (I'm at over 20,000 words in my Word document thus far) and I have got them to admit that I am close enough to the tap (my neighbor south of me isn't) but they say I need a "plant extension" to make this happen which would cost well over $14,000 since "Tapping in with a temp RG6 cable would reduce the quality of service to you and the other customers already using that existing tap which is why the extension would be required". Never mind the fact that one of my neighbors across the street already has Rogers services (https://i.imgur.com/YsIEd72.png) from that exact tap and one extra RG6 drop would make zero difference. They said I would have to pay a $14,000+ lump sum (which is insane) and that a payment plan is not a possibility, and last I "heard" they are "checking" to see if they will comp the cost and just install it so I can stop wasting their supports' time (as I have said, this has been a 14 months process so far, we're actually almost at the 15 month mark now). They said that this is the first time they have ever got a request for anything like this - but I don't think it's that rare to run an RG6 drop to a house that hasn't had Rogers services before, is it? I spoke to the Director of Public Works at my City Hall and he said that one of his neighbors a few streets over from mine actually got Rogers to install services there but it took them 2 years to get Rogers to do it - I'm getting closer to the 2 year mark myself. He said there's not much he can help with but he will approve any permits they require and anything like that.
Is there any way I can escalate this or anything I can do about this? I have tried reaching out to Project Managers, Engineers, etc on the Rogers forums but the only one who has actually given me the time of day (and gave me any hope of getting this done in the first place) was Dave (he told me that this is the first request he ever got of this), and now he's gone. Does anyone have any advice for navigating the tricky waters that are Rogers? I'm getting a little bit fed up with this, It's almost to the point where I want to go to the media about how insane this is just to get Rogers to actually do something. Am I just out of luck even though the tap is literally less than 100 meters away?
Thanks.

Ignite Gigabit Internet (Arris TG3482G) Bridge Mode?
Rogers says they don't recommend/support the TG3482G in bridge mode. Anyone have it working successfully? In gateway mode, DHCP cannot be disabled or configured to offer clients an alternate DNS to Rogers default. As my home network has several routers/APs, I'd like more control so bridging would be optimal.

[Internet] Slow Download with Google Play Apps on Android?
Does anyone else notice that downloading Apps from the Playstore on Android takes forever on Android (sometimes as slow as 100kb/sec)?
I've tried multiple phones, my other house, friends house which all have Rogers, disabled IPv6, ran phone(s) in safemode, tried with Rogers router/thirdparty routers, multiple different DNS servers; still slow.
Phones tried:
Pixel 2 XL
Samsung Galaxy S9+
Nexus 6P
I have another internet line (non rogers company), which I will max my download speed constantly (downloading apps at 40-50MB/sec from the play store), LTE+ I will download apps at 10-15MB/sec as well. I rarely see above 3MB/sec when downloading/updating apps on ANY Rogers network.
I think I've eliminated the possibility of it being a problem on my end since 3 houses with rogers internet on 3-5 different high-end phones all have this same issue. I'm pretty sure there is an issue between Rogers and Googles Playstore CDN servers, but I have no way to prove this theory.
Does anyone else have this issue? I have the Ignite Gigabit (1000 down 30 up) plan.

[Internet] Rogers dead download 0mbps, after reboot only works for 10 min
Hi, I am posting it here to see if anyone has ever solved a similar problem. My location: Scarborough M1S.
I have had rogers for years. It worked well until three weeks ago, my internet goes down a lot. It is almost unusable.
The last 5 speed test results are:
0.1/down 71/up (mbps)
377/down 42/up
474/down 78/up
190/down 34/up
0.01/down 31/up
(within 10 minutes, computer connected to router(modem) with cat5e cable directly.)
The download is just dead every a few while. Could be 2 sec or 10 min, it is just randomly that I have no internet connection.
Factory reset, reboot the modem many times. It shoots up to 900Mbps/down sometimes right after the modem reboots, then went bad in a while. The funny thing is, when speed test failed, Ping & MTR works just fine.
While I browse on computer, 80% of the time pages are blank with Chrome loading icon spinning. It loads or fails after a while. 20% of the time page loads instantly. Youtube is on and off, it is good when it transfers; or just stuck loading.
Tried SSH tunneling and VPN to other place, it does not improve anything.
Had two technician visits this week. They replaced some connectors outside the house, and while they were here, Internet worked for 20 min. After they left, later in the afternoon the Internet connection start to fail again. Checking the modem stats, it appears that dBms gets higher. But it does not fix the dead download.
I called rogers to have the 3rd technician visit. But I don't think he will do anything different from the last two guys.
Rogers ignite gigabit internet, CODA 4582u.

[TV] MyRogers... nothing in PAYMENT HISTORY
Recently, I was investigating a Cable TV payment puzzle, and logged in to MyRogers to check the PAYMENT HISTORY. It said "Sorry, you don’t have any history."
I clicked on Live Chat, and reported this problem to the rep. He confirmed our most recent payment from his records, and also assured me that ALL payments should show in PAYMENT HISTORY, on MyRogers. (Well, I would guess there is SOME display or time limit, but certainly recent payments should be there). The rep said he would "pass on this problem" to technical services, or something like that. (I have the chat transcript)
-This past Thursday, we paid our bill again (over the counter, at a bank).
-Friday, I received a "Thanks for your payment" email from Rogers.
-Today, Saturday, I logged in to MyRogers...
The account balance reflects our Thursday payment, but again, THERE IS NO PAYMENT HISTORY, at all. BTW, we have been with Rogers for MANY, many, years, at this same address.
I filled out the FEEDBACK panel, again describing the problem. I'm sure some American online-survey company will act upon my comments, and inform Rogers, so they can initiate a fix! ;)
Anyone else noticed this problem?
Thx!
(I see others here have reported the occasional glitch with MyRogers.)

[Internet] 195mpbs on Rogers Gigabit
Not sure what the hell is going on, but looking at the logs I see Rogers pushed a SW update on Aug 30. Now, I can't say that something changed at that time, but today I did a speed test, and the best speed I got after testing at 6 am this morning and now 4 pm is 195mbps up 13mbps down. Somethings really really wrong.
I unplugged the modem and did a hard boot and it's the same. Same brutally slow speed.
Barrie, Ontario
Anyone else?
This is weird. The first results were from the "official" rogers speed test site
https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/internet-speedtest
BUT.....
If I test at
http://www.speedtest.net/
I get speeds well above 570mpbs.
Is it a glitch with the Rogers site?

[Internet] Nothing new, just some holes in the database
So, some background: I might be moving out to New Brunswick next year (yes, by all accounts the economy "sucks", but fuck if I'm ever going to be able to afford a house anywhere in Ontario), so I decided to check around some addresses that are currently on the MLS.
Looks like the Rogers qualification database has some weird holes in it out in NB, because I checked a specific address and it apparently didn't have cable service, yet its neighbors did. The likelihood of this being legitimate is pretty slim, so it probably does have service just Rogers' database is awful.
I'd probably do some real calling around once the move is confirmed, but by all rights if the two addresses on either side have service, the one in question also should.

Porting Out my Rogers Cell Phone
Hi,
I've had enough of Rogers high prices. Would like to know, if I make plans with another company to port my cell phone number over to, when Rogers sees this and if they call me to make a better deal than they've offered previously, and I take Rogers new offer... are there any fees that I may have to pay to the company I was going to port my number too?
PS. I'm after nothing but a cell phone voice usage plan. No data, no texting, none of that crap. Simply a cell phone package used to make phone calls. Could anyone please recommend a good company for that as well.
Thank you

pfSense on Rogers CODA 4582 general questions
I just switched from Bell to Rogers. With Bell, I bypassed HH3000 and use FC media converter to have gigabit connection (RJ45) to pfSense LAN port. Inside pfSense, I use PPPoE for the LAN connection.
For Rogers, one thing for sure is that I can't by pass the CODA 4582 device. For physical connection, I will plug in CAT5 or CAT6 to one of the RJ45 port at the back of 4582 while the other end connect to pfSense LAN port.
- On CODA 4582, what mode should I go with, gateway or bridge mode. My intend will be disable WIFI and DHCP on 4582. DHCP will be provided via pfSense and WIFI from other device.
For pfSense
- what should I configure for the LAN? use PPPoE? Any advice?
- on WAN side, no change?
Let me know if further information required?
Thanks,
Stephen

Ignite TV Box IP Addresses
We have two Xi6 TV boxes on our LAN. We've be told by Rogers that they may be fussy in getting their IP addresses. I've assigned static IPs to the wired connection of both boxes. I still see them connecting simultaneously to wireless. So, each box maintains 2 concurrent connections. On the wired side, the IPs are periodically changing to 169.x addresses, which seems to indicate they're refreshing their lease but failing to get an assignment from the DHCP server. Anyone else having similar issues? I don't think there's a way to log in to the Xi6 box to configure anything, is there? So far, this issue is not affecting TV performance. I suspect the buffer is saving us while this stuff resolves in the background.

[Internet] What does building wide Rogers upgrades entail?
Rogers has put up notice in my apartment building that they will be doing network upgrades from mid October to end of November. The building is about 60 years old and was wired for Bell fiber last year.
They say to expect service disruptions. Does this mean they will be laying new coaxal cable throughout or will they be laying a second fiber line to units? I am with a TPIA over cable. Is service going to be interrupted daily?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
